  • And they’re off - first round eliminations

The first four of the last 24 contestants (if you see what we mean - the really important contestants) got axed this week in Season 7 of American Idol. In a show the displayed quite a variety of talent (as in differing levels of vocal quality!), the four contestants who didn't make it through were:

Amy Davis & Joanne Borgella from the girls & Garrett Haley and Colton Berry from the boys

Garrett seemed a little caught out by the whole thing - after his song he actually stated that he knew America would "love it" - way to get it wrong Mr Haley!
Colton Berry sang Suspicious Minds, and lets just say didn't really impress. When asked for some constructive criticism Simon Cowell told him he should forget about being a singer - probably fair, but wait a minute, didn't the judges put him through in the first place?!

Amy Davis sang 'Where the Boys Are', and to say it was a little out of key would be an understatement - no surprise she didn't make it through, perhaps her nerves got the better of her?

Joanne did slightly better than Amy, and did at least do an improved job of her final farewell, but it's fair to say both deserved to go.

So, into week two of the serious bit, and we do have a much stronger cast of 20 contestants left - who'll go next week? Let us know your thoughts...
