TIM’S LOOKS OVER VOICE? AMERICA, GET REAL!

    Sunday, April 18th, 2010

It’s a big Elvis Presley night on American Idol. The pressure for all the contestants is now even greater after Mike Lynche was given the save. Season 8 runner up Adam Lambert, being the mentor for the week’s event, demanded a lot of energy from the guys.

During the latest round of the competition, Tim Urban lent his signature soulful voice to his own rendition on Elvis Presley’s “Can’t Help Falling In Love.”

Tim’s performance was so well-received that the judges paid very high compliments with no less than Simon Cowell telling him that he went from zero to becoming a hero in just two weeks. Kara Dio Guardi praised Tim by saying that it was her favorite performance from him thus far. Ellen Degeneres went all the way to comment that she can’t help falling in love with Tim. And Randy no less added that Tim’s performance surprised him because he really liked it very much.

Come to think of it, Cowell was right when he said that it didn’t matter anymore what the judges would say about Tim. Whether it’s a positive comment or a negative comment, there are lots of teen girls who are dying to see Tim perform every week and who are willing to keep him around as long as they can.

It seems Tim is staying in American Idol because people especially so many young girls think he is cute and totally irresistible. Well, I guess Tim is having a good time for that. I guess, he is one of the luckiest people in the world, being brought back for the top 24. It can’t be denied that Tim struggled through several weeks in the bottom three before emerging so strongly with the night’s performance. He survived several shaky performances and luckily made it into the top ten.

Luckily for him, he just has a huge fan base to keep voting him back every week. For sure, the greatest factor of it is his looks and age. Yeah sure, he may be a nice guy, always keeps smiling even if he is given a nasty and harsh comment from the judges. He takes every negative feedback with a big grin and “open arms.”

But American Idol is not about good looks or who is hot. This is a singing competition for God’s sake. Tim Urban is so hot and all, no question about it, but Tim is absolutely no vocal talent.

It’s quite frustrating that every week talented individuals are going home while this Tim takes up so much valuable space in the competition. He is taking the place that someone else should have. Tim Urban’s singing performance does not warrant him to be the next American Idol. If America gets back to voting for talent, his days should be numbered. That’s why America.. . GET REAL!!
