Many are of the opinion that AT&T could have influenced the final results of the competition. There have been reports of the company providing phones and free text messages to fans to two people in Arkansas, Kris’s home town to vote him the Idol. It was also said that a few AT&T employees had taught the people to send power messages, sending multiple messages in a single action and hence casting multiple votes in a very short time period. There weren’t any reports of Adam’s supporters doing such things.
AT&T has said that the employees might have helped because someone from their hometown had to win the coveted American Idol title and has also said that they would make sure that no activities of that sort were to occur in the future again.
Kris Allen has finally made it; he won the American Idol title for the year 2009. After winning the title “No Boundaries” becoming his first official single and he marked his name in the music industry. In his interview to Rolling Stone, he said that he had gotten what he had wanted, a good name in the music industry. And now, all that he wants to do is, make great music and sell albums!
He was just of the opinion that the competition is not like the presidential run and that singers like Adam and Danny were great too and all they had in their mind was to become musicians and artists. With his first album being a hit already, Kris is looking forward to sing more music albums and make a great contribution to the music industry.
After the result of season 8 of American Idol was announced, there was another controversy that was brewing up. There have been allegations that fans of American Idol contestant sent power texts giving him an edge over fellow contestant Adam Lambert. But, Fox and the producers of the show American Idol were sure that the results were accurate and fair. They were of the opinion that the texts messages couldn’t really bring about a change in the final results. They also said that a few hundred votes from Arkansas couldn’t change the decision totally when compared to the hundred million votes that poured in!
